Autumn is here in full force, but frankly, that’s my favorite time of year to ride. Need an excuse? Come on out to the shop this Thursday night, September 20th, for Third Thursday. Throw on your good leather jacket and your heavy gloves and come mingle with the best moto crowd in the cities.
Embrace your dapper alter ego and your love of wide-open-throttle at the upcoming Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. This is an international event taking place at venues all over the world on Sunday, September 30, 2012. Our own local instance of the ride is happening at noon, leaving from The Happy Gnome (498 Selby Ave, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55102). So put on your best tux, wax your mustache and thoroughly screw in your monocle. We’ll be there. You should be too.
All the info is over at Facebook.
When the air is hot & dry, with water supply scarce, it’s usually that time of year for high octane fuel, high altitude, and record breaking land speed racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Speedweek is coming up in just a few days.
I try to make it out to Bonneville at least once a year since my first time about six years ago. I was amazed then, and continue to be amazed every year at how many extraordinary cars, bikes and people show up at this event. I simply love and enjoy everything about it.
To get to my point, I’m extra fortunate to get some time away from the shop — to escape our busy schedule for the weekend and participate in the everlasting ritual of paying respect to the gods of speed. Because I’ll be out of town, parts service will be on hold for a few days while I’m away. However, BlueCat Motors will still be open during regular business hours. So don’t hesitate to call the shop with questions or comments pertaining to your motorcycling needs. Leave your parts requests with the guys and we’ll get you taken care of.
If you happen to be at the Bonneville Salt Flats during Speedweek, and spot a couple goofy looking guys flying the Bluecat Motors logo on some shirts, please spark the conversation and say hi. I’ll have some limited release Bluecat merch with me to give away and will be more than happy to answer any questions you may fancy. See you on the salt!

There are only seven days remaining in the Kickstarter.com campaign for Girl Meets Bike — a film shot locally here in Minnesota by people who love old bikes as much as we do. It’s not often that an honest-to-goodness feature film gets made about real motorcycle culture, let alone featuring vintage bikes and groovy Minnesota people. This one looks like a winner and we hear some BlueCat regulars and their bikes make cameo appearances (and better!) in this movie-to-be. So if you’re able, go chip in a couple bucks and help get this project over the hump and finished. There are lots of great thank you gifts for supporters, ranging from coozies, to t-shirts, to DVDs of the film and more. Head on over to Kickstarter and help make this movie happen.
Bluecat Motors will be closed this Saturday, July 28th. We will be back open regular business hours the following Tuesday. Sorry for the inconvience this may cause. If you do need to reach us. You can leave a message via voicemail, or come find us somewhere along Highway 61 on our way to the Bring Out Your Dead Rally in Duluth, MN at Sir Benedicts Tavern on the Lake.
We’re currently overflowing with motorcycle service and restoration work, and it’s only proper that we stop and say thank you. We’re utterly swamped and we’ve been bumping up against the proverbial rev limiter on how many motorcycles we can even take in and queue up for service in the coming weeks. It’s kind of a humble brag, but we don’t mean it to be. Amidst the madness of it all is simply gratitude. We’re grateful that so many of you trust us with your motorcycles, and we’re working as fast as we can to get them back to you growling and ready to ride. It’s challenging, but it’s the best kind of problem to have. Thanks again for choosing BlueCat Motors.
